Return of the Comeback Kidd

He wipes off the stress of the battles he's won. He looks around and smiles at the familiar faces. He looks around the room and sees Loneliness dressed in tattered black and brown in the corner drinking by himself as he often did. Sadness and Melancholy weren't far from him. They were dressed in muted greys and browns, one crying the other looking down shaking her head.

Having walked past them he saw Pride in his suit, shiny shoes and top hat telling a grand tale as he often did. Hanging out with Vanity in her beautiful white gown, who peered at me after reviewing her fashion magazine. Then there was Disdain in dark red and black. He looked me up and down through his monocle as if he were weighing me as I passed.

I began to near my destination and prior to getting there I passed Forgetfulness, with his scruffy hair and missing shoe. Looking for his car keys as usual. Curmudgeon, in his wrinkled shirt and coke bottle glasses was complaining about the weather as he often did. Lastly of the unwanted companions I passed was Doubt, in his oversize lab coat, mismatched socks and dirt covered boots. He was in his usual corner reviewing facts and figures, measuring variables covered in chalk dust, he looked up at me and shook his head in regretfulness.

Thankfully all of these I had surpassed with a smile. The table I had actually come to see had all of the right players and people I needed to see. Confidence gave me a wink and a smile as I walked up to the table. He was dressed all in white from head to toe and had pep in his step as he danced a little jig.

Kindness was wearing a dress of multiple shades of red and pink as she often was the most brightly colored of the bunch. She did a curtsy as I arrived. Drive and Determination smiled at my arrival, they looked like twins in their two-piece black and silver tuxedoes. So I glanced around and said, “Quite the crowd in here tonight wouldn't you say?” “Why yes Success, you are quite right,” they all said in unison. We are glad to see you brought Dreams with you tonight. She as usual was wearing a dress of many shades of red, yellow and blue, which sparkled as she walked. She smiled at everyone warmly. “So let us begin,” I said, we have much to talk about and many things to accomplish…

She Calls My Name…

Her call is heard by the young and the old
By the fun, the fearless and the bold
Her voice is the marching cry for one and all
From the very small, to the tallest of the tall

Her shout beckens to a life less ordinary
A life where things can be just a little scary
She knocks, knocks and knocks some more
Until we answer and answer and answer that door

She is the drive behind that 36-hour road trip
The push behind our first deep dive dip
She is the voice urging us to climb higher and higher
To sky dive and walk through fire and mire

She is the call of the willing, willy and wild
The defeat of the muggy, monotonous and mild
She is the call to play in the heat, rain and snow
If you've heard her call you'll know…
