The Power of Belief

We can and will do
All we believe we can achieve
We can and we will
All we need is will is to believe

Too many people think they can't
Too may people simply won't
They think because of who they are
Or where they are from they can't

I'm here to tell you you can
And so can they
You simply have to look beyond
The accepted norms and scales

Great things can and will happen
We simply have to open our eyes
To the power of what are minds can achieve
Through the possibility and power of our belief

It's All Relative

Everything you do do
Everything you think
From the moment you wake up
To the moment you go to sleep

From the clothes you wear
To the bed you sleep in
From the domicile you live in
To the town, city, state or country you live

It can all be put in perspective
Calculated, weighed and measured
Lifted and looked at from all angles
From the inside out, from the outside in

It's all a part of the one constant thing
From the beginning of time
To the very end of time
The only non-relative thing is change

Driven

Is seeing past all of the obstacles and
Only seeing the many goals
Is waking up an hour earlier to
Run 3-5 miles a day

Is working two jobs and still having
Time to go to the gym and write
Is brushing stress off your shoulder
Like this morning's dust

Is hearing all the naysayers and negativity
And thinking of how you will help them financially later
Is dedicating years of one's life to the
Accomplishment of a single task

Is remembering who, what and why we
Work so hard for and pushing onward
Is finding a way to make it all work when
It seems oh so impossible to so many

Is living within a world where
So many have given up
Is succeeding where others have failed
And got gloating, but helping others

Is giving ones time to help others win
When one doesn't have free time for oneself
Is finishing over 14 poems in a month
With a myriad of tasks and challenges to worry about

Looking Through Eyes Long Forgotten

When finding a decision hard or
Debating whether to make the move
Or whether to date that new girl
Go to the gym or take up scuba lessons

Look through eyes long forgotten by time
Think to yourself what would 8-year old me
Think of where I'm at and what I've done
Would he or she be happy with how things are

Would they be happy with my job I have?
Would they be happy with where I'm living
Would they be happy with what I do with my free time?
Would they like my friends I have?

What advice might they give?
Where would they think we went wrong or right?
Would they want to hang out with us?
Or head back to their original time?

Life is too short to be boring
Take a minute to smell the roses
Go on that hike, take those scuba lessons
Ride the fastest, highest roller coaster

Take those sky diving lessons
Climb those mountains of doubt and win
Take that trip to Australia or Japan
LIfe is too short to be boring

Where Creativity Lives

It is an elusive place
Often overlooked by many
It's off the beaten path, in fact
There is no path really

You won't need any map
You won't need any compass
All you need is a clear mind
And a cleverly clear intent

You will need a warm jacket though
And a good pair of hiking boots
For it will not be an easy journey
To find the illustrious Creativity creature

One other important thing to pack with you
In your ruck sack is a bag full of ideas
For the Creativity creature feeds on them
Like a bear feeding on picnic baskets

You can and will find this elusive beast
There are friends who will help
There are books that will guide you
You simply must be patient

For this curiously Creative creature
Doesn't live in any jungle
Will not be found in the depths of any ocean
It is happiest….inside the mind of a dreamer!

A Salty Day At Sea-Part 2

Atop the crows nest I peered
Across the vast waters deep in the Caribbean
As far as the eye could see was the ocean and poring rain
Thankfully the full moon lit our path

Even from this great height you could hear it
Captain Jones was playing the organ
As he always did on nights like this
It was a salty sea dwellers tune

You could here the crew singing along
A tale of days and travels long past
Tiny little Kenji could be heard loudest
With his high pitched squeal of a voice

A little harder to hear was Bartolo
With a voice deeper then the sea
I couldn't help but sing along myself
And reminisce of adventures and women past

Push

Look past the naysayers
Look past the Debbie downers
Move forward towards your goal
Move onwards and upwards

You know what needs to happen
You can do what needs to be done
You've done it before and
You can do it again

You are capable of far greater things
Then you've ever dreamed
You are the master of your destiny
You can and you will achieve your goals

Doubt nothing and no one
Doubt is the destroyer of dreams
And it won't touch yours
You are the dedicated dreamer

Whose visions will fill cities
Whose ideas will reshape civilizations
Whose life will change billions
Whose existence will never be forgotten

You need to see through different eyes
You need to see what others don't
You need to see through the eyes of a child
Through eyes uncorrupted by time

Truest Grit

Through all odds I will survive
All obstacles I will overcome
All riddles I will solve
I can and will make it through

I will use life's obstacles as building blocks
To build a better life for tomorrow
One hour, one day, one month, one year
One room, one apartment, one house, one city
At a time, to move past the mires of muck

We all can achieve great things
Against overwhelming obstacles
We simply have to reach deep inside
And see the light in us that others don't

For believing in our abilities to overcome
Life's curve balls and brick walls
Is the first step towards building a better you
Which will build a better world of tomorrow

Game Changer

I am the moment in time and space
When your life is shattered all over the place
I am what you really truly need
I am the result of your every waking deed

I am the truth behind every answer
I am the solution to every puzzle
Life before me will be viewed far differently
Then life after me ever will

I am the new job that paves the way for the future
I am the unexpected pregnancy that got you to grow up
I am the DUI that caused you to stop drinking
I am the volunteering that opened a closed mind

I am the one decision that shaped the rest of your life
I am that friend who will always be there and ask for nothing in return
I am the cries of pain heard around the world
I am an education in life that no school can ever teach

Riddle to End All Riddles-#10

I am the enigma rapped in a riddle
I am the puzzle and the pieces
I am the test and the answers
I am the maze and the solution

I am simple or difficult depending
On the hour, day month, year or lifetime
I am all the colors of the rainbow
Or the absence of all color

I can be lengthy or brief
I can be short or tall
I can be made of letters and numbers
One or the other or neither

I can be spoken in a whisper
Or yelled louder then loud
I can be written, typed or live as a symbol
Or live in a digital dungeon

I can live on concrete walls
Or the walls of your mind
I am deeper then deep
Or shallower then shallow

I am the rebus buried in a labyrinth
I am the teaser wearing a coat of perplexity
I am the math problem and the solution
I am the distraction and the dilemma

I am the tough nut to crack
I am the tough proposition
I am the intricate entanglement
I am the mind-boggling mystery

You will know me when you see me
I am the why, who, how, what, when and which
I exist to confuse, twist and tease
Can you guess my name please?

Run

Run like you've never run before
Run like you never will again
Run for all the little people in your life
Run for all the important ones as well

Run like you're being chased
Run faster then you ever have
Run like the wind
Run, run and run some more

Run the stress and mess away
Run to forget the past
Run to plan the future
Run to stay ahead of the game

Run until you can't run anymore
Run until the music stops
Run until the fat lady sings
Run, run and run some more

Becoming One

With a clear mind and soul you can
Leave stress and your daily woes behind
Leave the bad in it's rightful place
And only retain the good

This is the place where great things live
This is where and how the world as we know it
Will begin it's real, beautiful change
For the better tomorrow and even better future

This is the place where great ideas live
This is where ideas, inventions, innovations and books are
And will be freed of their realm of nonexistence when
We open our minds and hearts to the possibility

We owe this most important of endeavors to our children
To their children and the children after them
This is how great things occurred through generations past
And this is how great things will continue into the future

This is our gift from God, all we have to do is find it
By believing in our ability to think and be better
We can and will achieve unimaginably great things
This is but a small list, but all great things start small:

Space travel at the speed of light
The solution for world hunger and poverty
Significantly longer and better lives for all
One world language and monetary system

This state of being is achieved by many means
Some call it meditation, others prayer
However you get there and whatever you call it
It is vastly important to do for the human race to succeed!!

A Salty Day At Sea-Part 1

It was colder then most days
It was a little darker then most too
The wind was flying in our faces
A myriad of mixed scents it was

From last night's chicken soup
To the scent of the barrels of rum on deck
There was quite the cacophony of noises
To add to the already salty mix

There was the kaw, kaw of the captain's parrot
The creaking of the deck as the sea tossed the ship
The loud flapping of the main sail, followed by the
Softer, lighter sound of the four smaller sails

After chugging my pint of rum
I climbed the main sail on my way to the crow's nest
For it was my day to watch for enemy ship's in the distance
Thankfully the cook gave me a napkin full of bread earlier that day

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

At first glance it did not make sense
Why would anyone with a plan wonder?
What was their plan, how did it work?
It just seemed so contrary and counterproductive

How could anyone accomplish anything
With no real path, plan, diagram, map or agenda?
It is so hard for us to wrap our mind around this
In our world of PDAs, PCs, Androids, Apples and Asuses

After taking a second look the complexity of it
Starts to gradually unravel it's multi-layered avenues
LIke a ripe onion, revealing it's many layers
We begin to make sense of such a seemingly, silly state

They wander for that opens them to all life's possibilities
They wander because it allows them to see things
That we in our fast paced, jet-setting lives would
Most likely miss, pass by or neglect

We should take a lot away from them
In life it is important to stay moving and productive yes
But it is more important to stop and look around
To truly enjoy this world that we are fortunate to have

One second, one minute, one hour, one day
One week, one month of every year
We should take time to
Wander on through by...

Walking a little slower
Talking a little softer
Looking a little more carefully
Listening a little harder

And we may just learn to
Appreciate how fortunate we are
To have what we have and
To live the lives we live

The Deep Went Deeper

Look past the miles of mediocrity
Look past the years of yearning
It is all about to change for the better
The blatant boredom dies today

Mulling through life feeding on the handouts
Of geniuses long past has got to stop
Stuffing our faces with overly priced, overly portioned
Fast food of death and toxically, tantalizing tobacco sticks

For God's sake it really has to STOP!
We are killing the possibilities of a perfect, planet
By only worrying about how heavy we can
Make our pockets and how full we can make our banks

There are ways to do it better, ways to do it right
Wake out of your apathetic coma of misguided contentment
Make time for our future and your children's
The time for change is right now, not tomorrow or next week

We need to move forward in this existence of ours
Fast food does not have to be unhealthy
Fuel or power does not have to pollute
Technology does not have to destroy the planet

We as a society need to catch up with our technology
We are no different then 8-year old Johnny finding the .45 caliber Beretta
In  his dad's carelessly unlocked gun cabinet
As a society we should use our knowledge to improve the planet and ourselves

We need to build better space shuttles, not better eyeliner
We need to create hydroponic high-rise corn fields
We need to create healthier economies and products that don't thrive
On the misguided decisions of our world's addictions

We are killing ourselves and we are killing the planet
We are not black, white, purple, green, brown or yellow
We are not Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist
We are all humans and we all share this planet

We need to work together in our common cause!!
We need to build a better tomorrow
By living better and smarter in a different way
We truly, truly need to start today!!

The Day Change Changed

We awoke that day like any other
The sun bright in our faces
All seemed quite normal
To our unknowing adult minds

Little did we know that it all would be different after that day
We scuttled into our cozy, comfortable kitchen chairs
And poured our big heaping bowls of Captain Crunch
And drank from our heavily filled glasses of OJ

We were about to leave for work when a newsflash
Hit the TV like a well aimed AT4 rocket
We stopped dead in our tracks realizing that work
Would simply not be our concern for that day

The news report began by saying that old knowledge
Had been found, solved and had been in use for years
At first glance this seemed like nothing significant
As it turned out scientists had been meeting secretly from all over the world

On an island off the coast of Florida in the Keys
Running tests on a new type of science that would change the world forever
This new science was Noetics, which seemed like science fiction at first
Then the scientist explained in greater detail and the vail of ignorance lifted

They began to explain how people only used 20% of their brains
And then explained why this was and how they planned to unlock it
The scientists then went into how they had done it with very rigorous tests
Experiments and research in which humans volunteered for

As it turned out there were 20 of them that volunteered and they had
Far exceeded what the scientists had expected and escaped
Alarmed the reporter asked the scientist what they were capable of?
The scientist said they could literally change matter as we know it

The reporter shook his head and could not believe his ears
He then said, “So how much change are we talking here?”
The scientist said they can create things with their minds
Move things with their minds, teleport and morph their appearance

With their minds focused together they could infact
Create a life or move an island or bring technology and
Things into existence that never existed…
The reporter was shellshocked and did not know what to say

The scientist believed that more then likely they would
Take the boat they stole and with their combined powers create
An island and slowly work out a plan of world domination
Which would probably involve recruiting and training more in their art

Whether their goals would be for good or bad would be
As of yet to be determined by anyone
Prior to any of the testing beginning twenty years ago they all underwent
Thorough psychological examinations which turned out normal

It was the belief of the scientist that they would only use violence
 As an absolute last resort
The image of the scientist then shimmered in an odd way
And he smiled broadly

With a slight bright light the professor changed into Sill Pavan
One of the 20 who had escaped
She said, “Fear not we have no intention of harming anyone, let today go down in history as the day change changed.’ From here on out we are literally only limited by our imaginations. Those who want to be on the edge of change are welcome to our island, which will now be known as Kronos-I. The earlier you come, the higher you will fall in rank and file in our chain-of-command. Be ready for change is now and the inventions of yesteryear will pale in comparison to this age of aquarius.” With that her image faded and she was gone….

So Suffer the Suffering

Their cries goes unheard in lands forgotten by time
Feet covered in dirt, pebbles, grime and germs
They've never known shoes or the warmth of running water
Never knowing the feel of carpet or wood only poverty

Cheeks stained with the tears of years long past
Eyes showing the bleakness of a questionable future
The fear of what tomorrow will bring showing on every
Unmistakably, beaten and broken will

Motherly love never known
She passed shortly after giving birth
Sister raises sister
Brother raises brother

Bodies sunken and sad
Walls collapsed and crumbled
No real mom or dad
Life is hard but they survive

How bad was your commute?
How long did you have to wait at Dunkin Donuts?
How hungry were you that day?
How expensive was gas?

How short was your weekend?
How bad was your waitress?
How bad was your haircut?
How bad of a driver were they?

Suffering seems more simple
When put in perspective
We are some of the fortunate few
And should not forget that

And pray for the forgotten
The downtrodden
The frail and forlorn
Those who should complain but never will!!

The Well of Wanting & Waiting Burst

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting filled
But had oh so far to go
To fully be fulfilled

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting filled
Watching, waiting and wishing
To fully be fulfilled

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting filled
As poetic ideas dripped
Waiting to be fulfilled

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting filled
As poetic ideas dropped
Waiting to be fulfilled

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting filled
As poetic ideas dripped and dropped
The well of waiting was finally filled

Drip drop, drip drop
The well of wanting still filled
As poetic ideas dropped and dripped
The well of waiting overfilled

Drips dropped, drips dropped
The well of wanting faltered
As poetic ideas dropped like ballistic bombs
The wanting & waiting well burst

Out flowed idealistically, imaginative intentions
Positively, pervasive proponents for
Socially, sophisticated symphonies
Ready to radically renovate revolutionary realizations

Life is now ready to lividly, linguistically, liberate
To totally, tremendously, terrifically tantalize
It is time for letters, to literally liberate latitudes
To form functionally, fantastic formulations

To foster, phenomenally, functional, futures
To build, bodacious bridges of blatant beauty
To open, outrageous opportunities
For all, ages, groups and races

To open the dedicatedly, distinctive doors of tomorrow
To point out that we are truly all in this together
Whether we are white, brown, purple, yellow or black
For the children of tomorrow, we need to live in peace today….

My Soul Shattered

Like so many shattered pieces of so many forgotten yesterdays
It burst into a million pixelated, plexiglass pixels
Splintered, splattered and splayed
Disasteroulsy, disparingly disintegrated

On display before so many forgotten, forlorn Fridays
Sliced, slashed and staggered
Beaten, battered and burned
Week, worn and wicked

Truer and bluer then the purest royal blue Crayola
Pertinently, potent and perfectly
Radiantly, ravishingly ready for growth
Flavorfully, free of so many forgotten yesterdays

Communicatively, collaboratively cognitive
Awakened, alert and elaborative
Melted, mixed, melded and coalesced
Wholeheartedly, whole mindedly, complete

Ready to build a path to a better tomorrow
Forge a path to so many fantastic futures
Help hell's hopelessly helpless
Ready to bring balance to the unbalanced

Ready to obliterate the brick walls of bullsh*t
Ready to build bridges to tomorrow's open opportunities
Free to forge new areas of societal growth
Cleansed, clear and consciously activated

The Beauty of Patients

The beauty of patients is
Really only known to those who wait
Or those of us who are quite simply
In all sense of the matter patient

The hilarity of this is lost on most
But found by some
Good things truly come to those
Who in their good time wait

In all honesty you ask yourself
Why is patients important?
Just don't rush into things you know
Just plan, plug on and pray

And in God's plan
And in God's time
Things will go your way
If your will is good and just
