Today Is A New Day

What happened yesterday is for yesterday
Today is what matters most
What you are doing right now is the most important thing
Not what you did yesterday, or yesteryear or 10 years ago

You are the shaper of your fate
You are the captain of your ship
You are the most important person
In your world today and everyday after

It's not your boss, his boss or the
President of the United States
You have the ability to change your life
Each and everyday you live

You do not have to accept what
You do not like about your life
You have the ability each day
To change your fate in every way

Keep pushing your hardest
Believe in your ability to make a difference
You can and everyone else can
They simply choose not to

You have the freedom of free will to make
The lives of those you've met as well as
People you never have and never will better
You simply have to say, "Yes I can!!“

Don't let negativity hold you back
Don't let others stuck in their stinking thinking
Hold you back from your dreams
They chose not to fulfill theirs and never will

Create a time, a place or a thing you do
That zeros you back in to your purpose
The naysayers pull everyone down and
Everyone needs to clear their head

Why We Write

We've all heard the saying,
"If a tree falls in the woods does anyone hear it?"
Well I here and now am quoting a new saying
That sums up well the why of writing

Whether its storytelling or journalism
Epic fiction or tragic reality
Hilarious comedy or sorrow filled tragedy
Every type of story, book or series

Has one thing in common
No matter when they're written or
By who, what, when, where and why
They all beg one question

A question on every writer's mind
From our ancestors writing on cave walls
To modern day authors typing away,
“Does a story still hold meaning without a reader?”

A Salty Day at Sea-Part 4 (Part-1 is in April)

When I think back to the day
That I left my homeland of Spain
When all I knew was my city of Madrid
And life was ever so simple

I shed a tear and wondered
How papa and mama were doing
Tending the farm and the animals
And how my younger sisters were

The day that I left, I packed everything
My whole world in a tan pouch that
I bought with my savings at the market
I filled it with all my clothes, drawings and a jar of dirt

With this jar I could take my homeland everywhere
And believe me I have and plan to take it more places
From the coast of Madagascar to the shores of Tahiti
To the crest of the Nile to the icy cold of the Arctic

A Flower by any other name

Like a beautiful flower
She bloomed in front of my
Hungry, happy, heavy libidinous eyes
Looking back at me quite lascivious

She makes every rose look like
A dandelion blowing in the fleeting wind
She smells sweeter then any hyacinth
Ever could in it's wildest dream of dreams

To the touch she is finer then the finest
Persian, Oriental or Indian silk
She is not a rare flower by any means
In fact she can be found on every continent

Few appreciate her full beauty
Few give her the fully deserved dedication
Many should learn her nurturing and care
For she is the only flower that gives back ten fold

This poem is property of Anthony W. Pawlowski and can not be replicated in any way shape or form. This representation is for viewing only and is Copywritted 2011.

Nature

The air blows through the trees
A breath of fresh air upon us
Many scents come from all directions
Stimulating our smell and touch

There's a musty smell of moss from below
A fresh leaf and bark smell from above
There are mushrooms and fungus among us
With every shade & hue of the rainbow

Inner and outer peace can be found here
One simply has to walk with an open mind
Feel deeply with an open heart
Let your spirit connect with nature at her purest

Leave with a new found clearness of mind
A healthiness of earthly body
A purity of your heavenly inner soul
And an ability to seize the day

This poem is property of Anthony W. Pawlowski and can not be replicated in any way shape or form. This representation is for viewing only and is Copywritted 2011.

Balance

It is something we all try for
It is something many die for
To have a place for everything
And everything in it's place

We need time for family
We need time for friends
We need time for work
We need time to work out

Everyone gets a piece of our
Personal pan pie of time
From the minute we wake up
To the minute we go to sleep

The thing we need to remember is
We decide how much time everyone gets
We decide when they get it
We are in control if we want to be

We can hold the pie and decide
Who gets each slice of our life
We can even keep more for those
We love and care for most

By finding an even keel
Or the middle path in life
We can make time for everyone
We can hold the hour glass

God gave us the ability to choose our path
The ability to determine our fate good or bad
So few of us use this power though and
Are tossed about like a leaf in the storm

We are all brought into the world in birth
And we all leave the world the world in death
It is up to us to determine what happens in between
Through everyday decisions for inner and outer balance

Untitled

You gotta have at least one
“One what?” you say.
One poem where the title is
Less important then the words

That make up the poem
Which really are the reason you read
Sort of the meat on the plate
Or the main attraction if you will

You don't go to a restaurant
Because it has great salad
And you don't go to a show
Because you love the cover band

You read the poem for the words
You read the poem for the meaning it conveys
You read to be inspired to learn eternal truths
You read to feed the need of an uncompleted soul

I write to give you my words
I write the poems to give meaning to our lives
I write to inspire and to spread eternal truths
I write to complete my soul with your reading

I go to a restaurant for 2 reasons
For their phenomenal steak and seafood
I go to a show for the headliner
I usually miss the opening act

I compiled this creative little poem
So you could come up with your own title
This is the meat, you can add the title or side dish
You can add the cover band, which could be awesome

This is at least one of mine or many where
The title does not dictate how the words
Flow together, assemble or gather meaning
In this poem the words run the show

Unbound

Unrestrained and unhindered
Undeterred from under educated minds
Unfettered and undaunted by the vast consciousness
Underwhelmed by what has been done so far

There is so much more that can be accomplished then
What we have done so far and believe we can do
The human mind can and will do more then we imagine
We are just scratching the surface of what we can achieve

Society is holding itself back and inhibiting it's own full potential
The predator of negativity must be stopped at all costs
Our collective future depends on its utter defeat
With it's death we as a society can realize our full potential

So I say to you, think you can and you will
Live your dreams and so in time others will to
Those who say you can't, haven't themselves ever really tried
You are different then them, because you have an I can attitude

A Family Bound Together

Tighter then time and brighter then the sun
A combined might, stronger than any one
A love deeper then any ocean
Youth and age working in unison

Brawn meets wisdom, melting into genius
One helps the whole and the whole helps the one
The growth of the one is the growth of the many
The fall of the one, is caught by the many

Tradition and technology form a bond of trust
Time together is time well spent
Time apart is a lesson for the heart
Patients with love is an everyday must

Listen twice as much as you speak
For some wisdom comes in a whisper
Pictures perseveres moments in time
Stories persevere a family's culture

Persistence of Memory

An intertwined link from the past to the present
A gateway to lessons learned and times forgotten
It comes in many shapes, forms, scents and smells
It may come in the blink of an eye or in quiet whisper

It is that laundry smell at your aunt and uncle's
It is that homemade birch beer your little league coach made
It is that barbecue smell you get from charcoal bricks and lighter fluid
It is that taste of hot cocoa after day of fun in the snow

An interwoven quilt of images stitched together through time
That makes us up, all depicting happy memories of times past
From the blissful years of early childhood to
The responsible years of adulthood and everything in between

It might be that field you look upon where you played soccer for the YMCA
Or the feel of sand on your feet at the beach, where you swam for years
It could be that movie you saw that reminded you of simpler times of youth
Or maybe its that poem that made you feel warm and fuzzy inside

This poem is property of Anthony W. Pawlowski and can not be replicated in any way shape or form. This representation is for viewing only and is Copywritted 2011.

In Far Away Lands, Part-1

In far away lands
Giants wander
Gnomes lurk and lear
Where many do fear

Ferries fly freely
Dragons dwell in deep dells and dungeons
Elves live in deep woods, caves and high castles
Where these are few have ever known

In far away lands
Live orcs ordering evil omelets
Ogres who eat cattle, kittens and kindergarten kids
Safe haven is not abound here

Wise wizards are found all around
Evil, enchanting, enigmatic witches are not far behind
Young witches and wizards are here and there
They're quite easily found, follow the blooming flowers and hopping frogs

In far away lands
Tales are told of heroes and heroines
Of sea captains, soldiers and swordsmen
As well as nomads, knights and noblemen

Good and evil do their dance daily
Many search for treasures, trinkets and tragedy
Life in this realm is hard for large and small
Survive to the end of the week and you'll be invited to princess' ball

In far away lands
Things are quite different if you haven't heard
Here every waking minute is filled with adventure
Every action, moment or sneeze hangs on my every word

This land is only as far as I make it
This realm is of my making and mind
Fear not I've written you a phenomenal part
You'll be a noble knight on a quest right from the start

A Restless Mind

Means there is so much to do
One must simply follow the heart and the mind
In search of the key that will
Unlock many doors and overcome many walls

It is as if one knows that there is a
Greater purpose yet to reveal itself
A greater place for life to unfold
It's bigger, brighter, beautiful plan

A connection must be found to
A power far greater then one's own
An amazing link to infinite imagination
Infinite creative power, filled with infinite intelligence

With the right group of like minded individuals
Such great goals can and will be accomplished
Fro the betterment of all
Week and old, young and healthy, fat, short and tall

Things will change for the better
Yesteryear's problems will fade away
Like the colors in your favorite
Beautiful, blue, birthday blue jeans

All levels of control: money, the education system,
Government, power, prejudice and prosperity
Will change forevermore for the better
A new level of fairness will speed across land and sea

Ideas will flow freely from the
Unclogged pipe of society's subconscious mind
All will be given, the right to free higher education
Merit will only be weighed by intelligence and determination

Money will be controlled by the people
Not men in lofty offices, in lofty towers, locked far away
Every man, woman and child's vote will count equally
There will be no electoral college to outvote the common man

Back In The Day

Life was a little simpler
Times were a little easier
The world's problems were solved
With a big bowl of ice cream

The best shows and cartoons on TV were:
Transformers, Go-Bots, GI-JOE, HE-MAN, The Muppet Show, Mighty Mouse
The Snorks, Fraggle Rock, Yogi-Bear and anything Hanna-Barbera
Alvin & The Chipmunks, Thundercats, The Jetsons and the Flintstones

LIfe was spent swimming all day
Laughing and playing my cares away
Miniature battles took place on paper daily
In lands and places unknown to all but me

Every birthday and holiday an adventure
Birthdays filled with pinatas, pool parties and presents
Holidays filled with hugs, holly leaves and happy tidings
With a young life came a life simpler time

As the wheel of time turned
Other cartoons came along that were still great
Such as: Duck Tales, The Uncanny X-Men,
Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, Pinky & the Brain

Ren & Stimpy, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Charlie Brown,
Animaniacs,  Garfield, The Real Ghostbusters, The Simpsons,
Batman the Series, Spider Man, Rescue Rangers
And the list goes on and on

Times and people changed further still
Thankfully my imagination and great cartoons stayed with me
An ability to see the world with eyes of wonder and unclouded
Like the mind of a child stayed with me and I hope it stays with you

Fortunately good cartoons are still out there now
One simply must look harder and treasure them like precious gems
Some are: Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, Akyra, Family Guy, South Park,
Futurama, Disney's Atlantis, Heavy Metal, Venture Brothers and Cowboy Beebop

Destiny's Design

Life has a path laid out for all of us
In which direction we don't know
There are many maps to guide us
And many leaders to show us where to go

The challenge is to find that design
To follow every cue, suggestion and sign
To find our perfect route to follow
We should look to our inner core

For our gut instinct and our inner voice
Are the pilot and co-pilot of our lives
That we need to pay most attention to
Next are our family, teachers and close friends

Take a moment each day to think this through
Even if only for 5-10 minutes at a time
This will be enough to prepare you for a better life
One of your building and design, no one else's

A Writer's Keyboard

When idle it has nothing to say
No new words of wisdom or news to share
No new worlds to explore or tails to weave
Thankfully this keyboard has an avid writer

It never stays idle for long at all
For this is a ponderously prolific writer
One of the best that the world has ever known
His stories paints pictures better then any artist

His words weave the stories of legend
Brighter then the light of the sun
His words will set you free from all your struggles
Melting all your cares away like ice cream in the summer

His stories will lighten your weekly load
Of stress, worries and responsibilities
So kick back, take off your shoes and have a listen
To one of the greatest stories every told

It is a story of the young, middle-aged and the old
Of the brave, the bright and the very bold
It is a tale of a journey, an epic perilous adventure
One for the ages, an epic of Homer's style

With sea voyages, beautiful exotics women and
Oh the things you'll see in this tale of tales
Creatures you've never heard of before and
Who will remain with you forever after

From apricot aging aglifliers, brown bezealbus
Enigmatic emporites, flaming flying fabroleans,
Green guzzling gooblers, hip hopping hibblers,
To yellow yipplers and zagging ziggles

Oh and the characters are phenomenal
So easily enchanting to entangle your imagination
There's someone to relate to for anyone and everyone
Short, wide, tall, bashful or boastful, there's a character for you

Merry Madness

We waited in lines for hours
Prior to the ticket sales office opening
While friends of ours sat in front of home computers
Mice highlighting the right button in anticipation

We were all ready for that moment
When the tickets went on sale
For the concert of a lifetime
With all of our favorite bands playing 11AM-11PM

Finally the flood gates opened
Our planning and poise were well rewarded
Between the group of us we all got pit tickets
Mainly due to our vigilance and fast mouse clicking

After about a month of planning
The exciting, long awaited day finally arrived
We all met at the diner anxious to roll
After the City View Breakfast feast we were ready to go

Upon arriving in the parking lot
We weren't surprised to find a little chaos and mischief
There were bus loads full of people pouring out
Cars and kids from all over the country

If you wanted it, you could find it
There was everything from hot dogs, hamburgers
Sausages; cases, coolers and kegs of beer
To vans and tents filled with jewelry, piercings and concert CDs

Of course there were the less then legal things to see
Paraphernalia from all parts of the globe
From glassware blown in California
To Deluxe Zippos from Australia

After some good old tail-gating
And a few beers we headed in
Past the vendors and souvenirs we walked to happiness
To a a filled with chaos and pit merry madness

Riddle Number#12-An Enigmatic Enchantress

She's been around for hundreds of years
She's made billions for those who have used her well
She comes in many phenomenal forms
She lives in many countries, but celebrated by one

She helps people across the world start their routines
Some of the many places you can find her are
In a cup, pill, soda, bag, can and many more
She has a growing number of helpful uses

She is the watchful guardian of the tired
Giving them a jolt of life in tired bones
She is the best friend of college students
During finals week at college across the globe

She is the staple of the office, the military and all
Efficient men and women in the work force
She is the fuel that the world truly runs on
Not oil, gas, electricity, wood or coal

A Positive Mental Attitude At All Costs

Remember at all costs to keep a positive head
Even when the chips are down there is always a silver lining
There is a lesson to be learned from all accidents
A positive mental message from all mistakes

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade
If life gives you rain grab an umbrella and a smile
Life is full of things to be happy about
You simply have to look around and see them

When you awake greet the day with a smile
And be happy to be alive and well
When it is hot out, be thankful for air conditioning
When it is cold out be thankful for heat

When it is raining be thankful for umbrellas and crops
When it is snowing be thankful for snowballs and hot cocoa
When you have a headache be thankful for pain pills
When you have a cold be thankful for warm blankets and soup

Infectious Enthusiasm and Attitude

It will spread like a virus or the modern day common cold
But not in a negatively hurtful way like these two
Instead in a positive wave of happiness and enlightenment
Helping all of those who wonder into it's path

This I am describing is how helpful a positive attitude
Can be when used by the right person in
The right place and the right time with the right people
Which thankfully is the situation almost all of the time

I am also describing an enthusiastic attitude in the face of adversity
This adversity can take on many different forms such as
The people you meet during the day, the experience
You encounter or the things you see on TV

The key to wield these ever important weapons in
The vastly negative world of ours is  to
Not sweat the small stuff and when stressed
Take a moment, breath deep and think it through

Technologica, Part-1

Out of our long past
We have arisen to great heights
The year is 2099
We have conquered many things

Aging has become less of an issue
Now that the chemical has been removed back in 2030
People can now live to the ripe old age of 300
Or possibly longer…time will tell

Cars are a thing of the past
Since teleportation was invented in 2040
We are now in an efficient age
Where all menial tasks are handled by machines

Even the technicians to fix the machines
Are robots running off of nuclear power
When these robots break
They have nano robots that fix them

Interstellar travel became a reality
Back in 2020 when the company Frontiers invented it
The first trip out of our solar system was 2030
Passenger flights began in 2040

We had came a long way
From our humble Sumerian beginnings
The sky was no longer the limit
And we now know we are not alone in the universe

An Individual Community

We are all a bunch of individuals
Living in our own individual worlds
Going about our everyday life
Completely independent of those around us

Or are we really?
Or can we really  be completely individual?
Or has the definition of community simply grown,
With our contemporary, state-of-the art, digital 21st century?

We still may physically live in boroughs, villages
Towns, burgs, boondocks, ports, burbs or cities
But mentally we live on the digital frontier
Where physical distance is inconsequential

A place where similarities can bring us together
Across state lines, time zones and oceans
We have all become a part of a greater community
In the greatest individual community…Earth!!

I understand

Life is hard and the going gets tough
Life will put you through trials and tribulations
Sometimes you wonder will I make it?
I understand how you feel

LIfe pushes you through boundaries
You never knew you could or would cross
Life shapes you like a piece of clay
I understand the reason

Life will show you beauty beyond imagination
In the blink of an eye or the twinkle of a tear drop
Life can be shaped by you if you will it so
For the right goal I understand

Life can be better far better then we could ever dream
If we make our dreams the foundation this can be so
Life gives us the tools, we must simply find them
This I know and understand why

You Can, You Have and You Will

You can achieve amazing things
You have it in you to change the world
You simply have to see the you others don't
You have to see the inner you

The one you know exists within
Just itching to get out and make it happen
The one who has a beat all odds attitude
Just release your truest you

You have done amazing things
You've influenced the lives of others
You've helped people better themselves
You've given hope to those who had none

These things you have to write down
Look at one everyday to motivate you
Think of a way to help someone once a week
When you're better at it find a way once a day

You will because you are awesome
You are one of a kind and have innate talent
You have abilities you haven't even used yet
You can because you do it for everyone

The ability to multi-task will be redefined
A new definition will have to be created for what you do
Books will be written and movies will be made
And yet still others will wonder how you did it

This poem is property of Anthony W. Pawlowski and can not be replicated in any way shape or form. This representation is for viewing only and is Copywritted 2011.

Believe In Better

Believe in faster cars
Believe in cars that fly
Believe in cars that drive themselves
Believe in cars that run renewable fuels

Believe in a world free of pollution
Believe in a world with healthy freshwater
Believe in all things being recyclable
Believe in a truly green world and economy

Believe in the power of one
Believe in what you can do
Believe in your contribution
Believe you can begin better

Believe in the power of one world
Believe in everyone working together
Believe in the end of war
Believe peace will begin and never end

Start by doing your part
Start one day at a time
Start by writing it down
Start by being the difference

Start by being there for a stranger
Start by volunteering for those in need
Start by getting others to hear your story
Start by believing you can

Start by pushing beyond your limits
Start by looking beyond race, color, creed and religion
Start by seeing this world belongs to all of us
Start by finding ways to work together one day at a time

Start by seeing how working as one can change things
Start by finding others who feel as you do
Start with a small group who you trust
Start now, start yesterday, start five years ago!!

Summer Times

I packed up my gear with fun in the wild on my mind
The tent, sleeping bag, sleeping matt, Coleman stove
Marshmallows, cooler, hot dogs and camera were all packed
The only left things left were my hiking boots and a sense of adventure

Soaking up the sun with ocean air in my lungs
Seagulls soaring overhead with dozens
Of sand crabs scurrying this way and that
I smiled without a care in the world

I was so anxious to go that night
The thought of popcorn and soda dancing in my mind
To enjoy my favorite films in the open air
As we pulled in I smiled thinking of days past

A brief stop at the Wawa on the way
To pick up all manner of assorted snacks
And the ever important toll money
With gas in our tank we were ready for the journey

Riddle Number 11-The Riddle to Begin All Riddles

I have been here before you were born
I will be here long after you pass
I started out very simply constructed
I have evolved throughout the ages

I am not the who, the how or the what
Or the when, the where or they why
I am the name given these and more
I have a name for each and every thing

I record the history of man on clay tablets
Papyrus, cloth, paper and now I do digitally
I can be used to construct countries or
Or everyday love letters

I can be simple or complex
Short or very long
I can be used as a build a weapon
Or used to bring loves ones closer

This poem is property of Anthony W. Pawlowski and can not be replicated in any way shape or form. This representation is for viewing only and is Copywritted 2011.

I Will

I will achieve
Many things great and small
I will open the doors of possibility
For those who have never known it

I will rip through obstacles
Like a child opening Christmas presents
I will leap over the walls of adversity
Like an Olympic hurdler going for the gold

I will bridge the gap
Between purpose and procrastination
I will see with eyes unclouded
Potential where others only see deadends

I will seized the power of now
By living each moment to the fullest
I will harness the power of efficiency
To achieve amazingly high-levels of multi-tasking

I will build bridges of friendship
Where others seek to build walls of adversity
I will seek the wisdom of the ages
To guide me on paths few have traveled

I will live the life I've always dreamed
By taking steps toward them each day
I will achieve higher levels of fitness
Then I ever thought I could or would

I will continuously seek self improvement
Through reading, classes, degrees and travel
I will forever remain optimistic
In my mind's eye the glass is always half full

I will read this every morning
I will show it to everyone
It is my mission to
Make this your mission

Building A Beast

I go to the gym
One hour and one day at a time
I curl two 80-lb dumbbells
I bench one barbell with two plates

On run days I double knot my Adidas
Crank up my ITunes library
Turn up the RPMs on the treadmill
And I enter a world free of all traces of stress

On leg days I remember why
Squats hurt more later
Calf muscles need attention too
And how you can never stretch enough

The gym is my home away from home
I go there with my fellow fitness gurus
Drinking my well mixed protein shake
Along with gallons and gallons of water

We sculpt our arms, legs and bodies
Like Michaelangelo chiseling out David
With our pain, sweat and tears
We find inner as well as outer strength

We build our mental confidence
In unison with our physical muscles
After the treadmill we shed away pounds
As well as the stress of a day's work
