Inner Battle

My eyes open to the sun's light
And so begins my inner plight
The two kings in their two lands
Begin their days by shaking hands

They promise for it to be a fair fight
They assure it to end by 9 at night
One of them lives in a castle of purest white
The other in one of darkest night

They represent two sides of every thought
One says yes I can, the other no I cannot
One rules with a sword of positivity
The other with a whip of negativity

They battle each other everyday
In hopes the tide will sway their way
They use a myriad of weapons and tricks
One tries to destroy, the other to bolster and fix

Sitting high atop his trusty steed
The king of positivity commands a vast army
Of positive thinking, confidence and kindly deed
Knights of kindness and wizards of wisdom

Lurking on his donkey of destruction, opposite his foe
Sits the king of negativity with his foul, festering army
Of negative thinking, cowardice and evil deed
Knights of clumsiness and wizards of woe

In the battle over my mind
I gather all the positivity I can find
From inner reflection and
Deeper then deep introspection

I arm the king of positivity with newer armor
To wage the fight that will end my plight
Against the king of negativity and his festering army
He can be beaten by seeing in a positive light
