We walked through the rubble of the once great city
In days long past, it's skyscrapers reached to the sky like giant fingers
Demonstrating man had never really forgotten
The story of the Tower Of Babel
It has been known my many names in many stories
Told by authors, artists and illustrators of our past
Some would call it Gotham, Metropolis or New York City
Whatever the name it's significance will never be forgotten
Before, evolution has always been thought to be something that moved us forward
For the most part this has been the case, with commonly unexpected results
When man became capable through genetic manipulation and engineering
To alter his own evolution and maturity this path became less straightforward
Through years of scientific testing and voluntary experiments
Genetic engineering made staggering breakthroughs long thought impossible
The changes all happened slowly at first and then the growth of abilities
In tested individuals far exceeded the imaginations of those tested or testing
